The Influence of Temperature on the Photosensory Latent Period

چکیده

1. The effect of temperature on the photosensory latent period in Pholas dactylus is accurately described by the Arrhenius equation when micro = 18,300. 2. The adequacy of this equation has already been found for two other photosensitive animals, Mya and Ciona, which are very similar in behavior to Pholas. The value of micro is different for each of the three species studied. 3. This is taken to mean that though the organization of the receptor process is the same for the three species, the chemical materials concerned are very likely different.

The Effect of Exposure Period and Temperature on the Photosensory Process in Ciona

1. Experiments are presented which show that the latent period in the photosensory response of Ciona is inversely proportional to the duration of the exposure period to light. From this it is found that the velocity of the chemical reaction which determines the latent period is directly proportional to the concentration of photochemical products formed during the exposure period. This is interp...

The Effect of Exposure Period and Temperature on the Photosensory Process in Ciona

Mya and Ciona are two animals which are sensitive to light, and which respond to it by a vigorous retraction of the siphons. As a result of previous work~ it is known that the receptor mechanism underlying this sensitivity to light is composed of two associated processes. The first of these takes place during the necessary exposure to light. I t follows the Bunsen-Roscoe law, and is practically...

The Nature of the Latent Period in the Photic Response of Mya Arenaria. by Selig Hecht

The response of Mya to light involves the existence of a latent period. The stimulus consists of the exposure of the animal to the influence of light for a short interval. Following the exposure period, M y a may'remain in the dark for a length of time which is usually greater than the exposure. At the end of this latent period it retracts its double siphon in response to the stimulus. The demo...
